Each restorative sequence is designed to move the spine in all directions. These movements illustrate the age-old wisdom of yoga that a healthy spine enhances well- being. A restorative sequence will include backbends, forward bends, twists and inversions. This can be as simple as putting your legs on a bolster but the effects are quite dramatic. By changing the relationship of the legs to gravity, fluids that accumulate in the lower extremities due to sitting and standing all day are returned to the upper body, and heart function is enhanced.
